Welcome to Killer Pixel Labs Limited or klrpxl as we like to call it.

This is a studio comprised of two. Myself and my nine-year-old son Rowan. We’ve started building an educational game for kids who’ve fallen behind in critical skills like math and reading because of covid-19 outbreak and the fallout from it. The pandemic disrupted not only the economy, it didn’t just kill the most vulnerable people in our world, it also disrupted the foundational education of so many children around the world but especially here in America, we were woefully unprepared for the long lasting effects that remote schooling would have on our elementary age students.

The foundational education of early childhood education is absolutely critical to the later success of each student going forward from those years. Without a solid foundation in math, reading and science – our children struggle to learn higher level subjects and this is proven to create higher levels of poverty and mental health issues as they age but it also destroys the tradition of each generation pushing past the achievements of past generations. We cannot continue to advance as a people, as a world without these critical early lessons building the foundation of success.

Now onto the game:

This idea for an old-school style platformer with math, science and reading puzzles between levels to gain power ups to progress further was the brainchild of, well, my child. Below is Rowan and below the photo is a link to the GoFundMe for this game we are building.

Give Rowan the chance to help kids learn critical skills

So far we’ve raised about $300 US, this has allowed us to purchase some asset packs. I’ve put up about $2500 US myself and am donating my time as well, to get him started in his endeavor to enrich the education of his fellow students and his age cohort worldwide.

However, because this game is completely free, no ads, no cost to download and no pay to win style loot boxes or other money grabs within the game itself this is an expensive endeavor.

I already am an apple and android developer. I’ve bought the SDK’s (software development kits) Xcode and Swift, Unity3D and Unreal Engine, and I am hoping we can also get Microsoft (XBOX) Steam (PC) Sony (PlayStation) and Nintendo (Switch) to allow us to put this in their stores as well – unfortunately all of these companies operate by taking a percentage of sales and/or advertising revenue to get your game on their platforms.

So since this game will be free, with zero ads. We’re going to have to pay each of these companies to get this game in their stores. That is what the GoFundMe is for.

So please take a look at the page I’ve linked and decide if you’d like to invest in the children of the world and their future.

Thanks for your time, and if you decide to donate, thank you for believing in my son, his project, and the world’s future.
